The Italy National Energy League is part of the World Championship for Energy Savings (WCES), a global initiative developed under the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction.
It is implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security (MASE), which leads Italy's energy transition and environmental policies, in its capacity of national focal point for the International Council on Buildings and Climate (ICBC) that is supported by Global ABC.
Italy combines a rich and diverse building stock with strong European policy alignment, making it a key country for accelerating building performance through renovation and operational optimisation.
This candidate space aims to identify and showcase the most energy-efficient buildings across Italy based on real, measured performance data.
Buildings compete at the national level and may qualify for international recognition at major climate events.
Italy — through MASE — is advancing building energy performance through a combination of national measures and European directives.
MASE is also supporting the operational decarbonisation and sustainability of the Public Real Estate through a dedicated financing programme — PREPAC — for improving the energy performance of Public Administrations buildings in the period 2014-2030.
In this context, the WCES contributes to visibility of such national initiatives, and supports a shift toward measured, real-world performance, complementing regulatory compliance and incentive schemes.
The Italy National Energy League is expected to be implemented through collaboration between national authorities, stakeholders and international partners.
